About a week and half ago, I got this email from Guerillas, one of the indy comics that I follow, and the creator, Brahm Revel, was asking for me (and other fans) to support his work through Kickstarter.com. I picked the pledge that I liked the most and felt that I did my good deed for the day by supporting the little guy in the oversaturated market of spandex clad heroes. Check out Brahm's kickstarter page.
I thought that was the end of it, but Kickstarter has some really cool, creative projects. I was bummed that I couldn't participate in some of my favorite comic writers projects, Neil Gaiman and Warren Ellis, but I was able to discover other gems in other mediums, particularly gaming. On the New and Noteworthy section, I found Aleph, an old school tactical RPG. It is a pretty fascinating project which is trying to capture the magic of this genre with longer than 10 hours of gameplay, deep characterizations and storyline, and good graphics/music. I can't wait for it to come out (hopefully sometime 2012). The amazing thing is the works on kickstarter if done well connect with people, if not inspire.
